March
21, 1930 Martin Barkman stayed here for
night. In the afternoon we went along
with John H. Reimers to Fowler. C.
Dalkes and John F. Reimers came over.
For faspa we went to Peter
Bartels. Back home again for the
evening.
Cornelius and Margaret did not take a honeymoon. In fact, it did not become common for
Mennonites from Meade to take honeymoons until the 1950s. And then it was only a brief, one- or two-day
trip to a nearby city or some other attraction.
They stayed at her mother’s house with the rest of the wedding
company. And then they resumed their
routine of visiting relatives because Margaret would want to take advantage of
every opportunity to see her relatives before she and Cornelius departed for
Manitoba.
